Oliver kissed her deeply, a sensual promise lingering between them. Rayne shivered. She wanted him, needed him tonight. And he’d promised to be with her. Her head swam a little, and she giggled. It felt like the first time she’d taken one of her father’s bottles of sherry as a sixteen-year-old and sampled a bit too much of it.

Oliver began to unfasten the hooks at the back of her gown as they continued to kiss. When her gown loosened, she shimmied out of it and slipped off the bed to stand in front of him. Then, with a nervous beat of her heart, she turned her back to him so he could unlace her corset. The second he began to pull the laces loose, she felt like she could breathe for the first time in ages. The whalebone corset dropped to the ground, and she turned to face him just as he began to lift the thin chemise she wore off her body.

She stood bare before him now, except for her stockings and boots. His gaze raked down her body, and she felt a flood of heat deep in her belly. He pulled her against him, her bare breasts brushing against his satin waistcoat.

“There’s nothing more arousing than holding a beautiful naked woman in my arms.” He kissed the shell of her ear in a way that made her quiver. Then he sank to one knee and began rolling down her stockings and unlacing her boots. By the time she was completely naked before him, he had soothed her trembling nerves with kisses and caresses. He was a master of this. He knew exactly what to do with women.

“Oliver, how many others have you been with?” This was more a matter of curiosity than jealousy. There was no way he could be this well versed in seduction without practice.

Oliver cupped her chin, and his free hand settled on her lower back. “There have been a few, but you are the one I feel I’ve been waiting my whole life for.” His lips seared a path from her neck to her shoulders, and his words wrapped her heart in soft velvet. She stood on her tiptoes to kiss him back, and then she pulled at the buttons of his waistcoat. He let her undress him, let her explore his body, and all the while he caressed her, touched her, and left burning kisses on her skin.

Rayne had never touched a man like this before. She coasted her palms up his chest and bent her head to flick her tongue against his nipple. She smiled in delight at the way he groaned and held her close in encouragement.

“I’m going to make love to you tonight,” he vowed as he unfastened his trousers and let them fall to the floor.

“You’d better.” Rayne reached for him, sliding one hand from his corded abs to his hard length. She stroked him hard as he bent his head to hers for a kiss. Then he curled his fingers around her wrist and gently removed her hand from his shaft.
